Case of wireless mobile video monitoring in Pearl River White Dolphin Nature Protection Zone
Time:2019-11-26

Chinese white dolphins are the first-class marine mammals to be protected in China. They are known as "giant pandas on the sea" and "national treasures on the sea". They are mainly distributed in the Pearl River Estuary and Xiamen sea area. According to statistics, there are about 1000 Chinese white dolphins living in the Pearl River estuary

In October 1999, Guangdong provincial government established the Chinese White Dolphin Nature Protection Area in the Pearl River Estuary, which mainly covers an area of 460 square kilometers between Lingding island and Niutou island in the waters of the Pearl River Estuary. In June 2003, the reserve was promoted to a national nature protection area.

Guangdong Ocean and Fisheries Bureau has invested millions of funds in the reserve for the annual investigation of Chinese White Dolphin resources and distribution. After investigation and investigation over the years, more than 20000 on-site photos have been obtained, which provides basic information for the division of the protection area .

The establishment of the protection zone not only saves the endangered white dolphin population, but also protects the natural ecological biodiversity in the area, providing a guarantee for the sustainable economic development.

In order to further study and understand the living habits and living areas of Chinese white dolphins and strengthen the protection of Chinese white dolphins, relevant departments intend to set up a set of convenient and effective wireless video monitoring system in the nature protection area.

As the project needs to track and shoot the Chinese White Dolphin through ship patrol, it can only rely on mobile video transmission equipment to monitor and record the area in real time.

In the monitoring project of China White Dolphin Nature Protection Area , SUNTOR is mainly responsible for the supplier and technical guidance of wireless video monitoring system.

The following is a brief introduction of the wireless video monitoring system

  2. Monitoring transmission point map

As can be seen from the picture above

The survey ships sent out from the port of point C and patrolled the sea area in the protection zone. The monitoring images obtained will be transmitted to the 6200data-rx (receiving terminal) on the artificial island of point a through the COFDM mobile wireless video transmission equipment 6200data-tx (transmitting terminal) on their respective ships

After data integration through the switch, the long-distance wireless transmission is carried out through the long-distance wireless bridge st5023pro-tx (transmitter) on the artificial island of point A, and the signal is transmitted back to the monitoring center of the Protection Area Management Bureau at point B 19.66km away

  3. Scene pictures

Point A: an artificial island of Zhuhai Hong Kong Macao Bridge.

The equipment includes 1 pcs HD pan tilt camera, 2 pcs ST6200DATA-5 receivers, 1 pcs ST5023PRO and 2 pcs 4.6m omnidirectional FRP antennas.

  4. Measurement

The communication distance from point A artificial island to point B to the monitoring center of the protection zone administration is 19.66km, the transmission bandwidth is between 48mbps and 56mbps, the signal strength is between - 60dbm and - 90dbm, and there is no packet loss.
